Banana-Oat Baby Bites

They have a surprising benefit for new parents.

“Many snacks for babies and toddlers don’t contain much nutrition,” says Marissa Lippert, RD, a New York City-based nutritionist and founder of Nourish Baby. Her no-cook bites deliver protein, complex carbs, and healthy fats. “This balance keeps blood sugar levels steady, which can fend off tantrums,” she says. Plus, kids love the banana-coconut taste and texture. Whip up a batch for children and babies age six months and older.

Yields 20 bites

  • 1 tablespoon chia seed
  • 1 tablespoon shredded unsweetened coconut
  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

  1. In a food processor, blend all ingredients until slightly chunky, but smooth and malleable.
  2. Form 20 one-inch balls using your hands. Serve, or transfer to a parchment-lined freezer-safe container. Store in freezer for up to three months.
