Easy Red Harissa

This versatile condiment can be made in less than 15 minutes.

Makes ½ cup

Ingredients

  • 1 large red bell pepper
  • ½ cup red onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • ½ teaspoon caraway seeds
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cumin
  • ¼ teaspoon ground coriander
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2 red jalapeños, seeded and diced
  • 1½ tablespoons lemon juice
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon black pepper

Directions

  1. Place bell pepper under broiler to char, about 7 minutes.

  2. Once entire pepper is charred, remove the skin, stem, and seeds.

  3. Place meat of pepper in blender with remaining ingredients and puree until smooth.

  4. Store in a container in the fridge until ready for use as a condiment or ingredient.
