Makeup that withstands your workout, an on-the-go recovery gel roller, and more
If you want to stock your gym bag with the best pre- and post-workout beauty and grooming products, you may be overlooking a top source of knowledge: the trainers and group fitness instructors who navigate locker rooms day in and day out.
Here, Equinox pros share their go-to skin, makeup, and hair product favorites that take them from studio to street—and back again.
CliniqueFIT Post-Workout Face + Body Cleansing Swipes
These fragrance-free on-the-go wipes help keep breakouts at bay by removing sweat, dirt, and oil post-workout and in between classes, says New York City-based Equinox group fitness instructor and Knicks City dancer Molly Day.
Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré
“I always have makeup on when I teach or train, and this cream is the first step to my routine because I can trust it to give me a healthy glow,” says New York City-based Equinox barre instructor Julie Granger. That’s why this vitamin- and antioxidant-enriched moisturizer, which includes ingredients like aloe vera and shea butter, is also a favorite among makeup artists.
Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser
This product removes sweat and infuses skin with hydration. “It’s light and refreshing post-workout and the rose water helps soothe redness and restore my skin to its normal tone,” says PROJECT by Equinox instructor Patrick McGrath, who is based in New York City.
Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer
This lightweight, complexion-evening tinted moisturizer helps control oil and holds up during sweaty workouts, making it a staple for CeCe Marizu, a New York City-based Equinox group fitness instructor. It contains SPF 20 UVA/UVB sunscreen, anti-pollution antioxidant vitamin E, and comes in 15 shades.
Ouai Dry Shampoo Foam
This foaming dry shampoo eliminates greasy sweat and leaves hair looking (and smelling) refreshed. It also gives it a boost of volume, Day says, and doesn't have that telltale white cast that comes along with most dry shampoos.
YUNI Chillax Muscle Recovery Gel
This anti-inflammatory gel uses arnica flower extract and peppermint leaf essential oil. “It’s non-sticky, non-greasy, and easy to use,” says Queenie Phair, a yoga instructor at Equinox’s Toronto locations. “I love it for soothing achy muscles and tendons.”
WAY OF WILL 22 Oily Face Toner
“Sometimes I only have 15 minutes between teaching yoga classes and don't have time to shower, so I spray this on my face,” Phair says. “The tea tree oil helps clean my skin and make me feel refreshed and ready to go again.”
