5 Workouts For Recovery Day
You heard it here first: 2016 is going to be the year of regeneration. According to Matthew N. Berenc, director of the Equinox Fitness Training Institute, the recent focus on all high-intensity, all the time will (thankfully) fade out of focus. “For the last couple of years, there has been an overriding perception that in order to get in shape, see results, or just train in general, that you had to go ‘beast mode’ or ‘crush it,’” Berenc has said. “By honoring the ideas of recovery and regeneration, people will see better and longer-lasting results."
But regeneration doesn't have to take the form of sacking out on the couch for a Bravo marathon. Below, five expert routines that provide an active, movement-based recovery day.
Spend some time with yoga tune-up balls.
Attend to your mobility: ankles, knees/hips, and shoulders.
Focus your foam rolling with proper technique.
Perform a series of power poses.
Increase your flexibility with 10 minutes of stretching.
