Unzipped: Richard Phillips
The artist gives us glimpse inside his gym bag before heading to Art Basel Miami.
With Art Basel kicking off this week, trendsetters' and tastemakers' eyes are all fixed on Miami, and few artists have made more of an impact in previous festivals than Richard Phillips. Both artistically talented and media savvy, Phillips' paintings have been featured on the set of Gossip Girl—you may remember the kaleidoscope headshot in the Van Der Woodsen apartment—and his work features celeb faces from Justin Timberlake to Lindsay Lohan. He has new paintings currently showing at Matthew Gallery in NYC through the end of 2015, and Phillips is set to debut a special edition print with high-end men's underwear brand THE EIGHTH at Art Basel Miami. A launch event at The Webster will premiere the two new exclusive styles. We spoke with Phillips, a fitness and lifestyle connoisseur, about his favorite products he packs in his gym bag.
Killspencer Overnight Duffle, $325
"Killspencer makes the best looking, highest quality, leather bags. The overnight duffle is the perfect size for daily use to the gym and then to the studio."
