Unzipped: Marie Robinson
The celebrity colorist and NYC salon owner unpacks her gym bag.
From Michelle Williams to Ryan Gosling, many of the world's top stars entrust Marie Robinson with one very important body part: Their hair. At her eponymous NYC salon, where the A-list colorist tends to a client roster that reads like an Academy Awards category, Robinson relies on her yoga-meets-weight training sessions to keep her energized. During workouts, "I'm usually seen doing dead lifts and overhead presses to keep my legs and body strong enough for long days of standing to color hair." Below, her own distinctive spin on fitness-chic.
"I'm a mom of a 14-month-old and need easy convenience; between my salon and my little Leo, I'm always on the go. I loved his black Tumi diaper bag with all his baby bottle compartments, cold storage and other pockets, and decided to use as my posh little gym bag now that he's growing out of it!"
Old Navy leggings
"Inexpensive legging that wash well and hold their shape."
"Chic and sexy. I love their super-soft cottons and the cut of their t-shirts and tops. I often buy these at the Equinox boutique."
"I like to condition my hair with ColoristCure when I go into the steam room. It replenishes moisture and adds tons of shine. The steam helps open the cuticle and this wonderful treatment does the rest."
Wella Enrich shampoo and conditioner
"It's safe for color-treated hair so it won't fade my blonde."
Neutrogena sesame oil
"It's lightweight and moisturizes skin quickly out of the shower."
Greek yogurt + Babka
"I usually eat before my workout; Fage Greek yogurt with fruit and sometimes a little chocolate babka as a chaser if I need a morning boost (not recommended by trainers, but I just love)."
"I love the music they play at the gym but if I'm home or out doing a routine I like sunny indie music or pop such as Kylie Minogue."
