Q&A with Iman
The model-turned-makeup mogul on PJs, David Bowie and why she never skips breakfast.
It's true that Iman got lucky when she hit the genetic lottery, but the supermodel-turned-businesswoman has nothing but hard work to thank for her success. The founder and creative force behind the hugely successful IMAN Cosmetics line is also an author, a designer of accessories and home collections and co-host of Bravo's The Fashion Show. The icing on a cake that's pretty damn good already? She makes up one half of the ultimate model-rockstar couple, alongside longtime husband David Bowie. When we caught up with the fashion icon, she gave us a glimpse into her grounded-meets-glamorous world, sharing the art of wearing PJs to a party, her healthy obsessions and the secret behind that luminous skin.
Patricia Moreno's intenSati, which combines pilates and strength interval training. It's beyond a workout and the perfect way to start the day.
Best insider tip:
Don't skip breakfast. And there are no shortcuts.
I always say that the skin you take care of in your 20's is the skin you will inherit in your 30's, 40's, 50's and beyond. Personally, I swear by SK-II 3D Redefining Mask. It makes my skin look amazing — even if I have the flu! I also cannot live without my IMAN Time Control Replenishing Serum.
Wardrobe item she can't live without:
My Olatz silk PJs — and they're not only for sleeping! Thank God it's now fashionable to wear them out — as long as you don't forget to pull yourself together with hair and makeup, of course. You can wear the pants with a nice sweater and a coat, or wear the top with skinny jeans, some chunky jewelry and high heels. Or just wear both top and bottom with ballet flats. Tres chic!
Favorite art piece in her house:
A Julian Schnabel broken plates painting of me that was a gift for my husband on his 50th birthday.
My honeymoon was my best vacation ever! We got married in Florence, Italy and then went to Bali for two and a half weeks, then to Kyoto, Japan for one week. Just a divinely sexy trip.
What completely relaxes her:
A massage. I could have one every day.
Caramel and toffee.
Number one reason for taking care of her body:
For vanity reasons, and I also want to stay healthy for my little girl, Lexi, for as long as I live.
Message she'd like to send to the world. (Only catch: it has to be 140 characters or less):
Please, grant us harmony, balance and respect for one another.
