After being selected to cover the Rio 2016 Games for NBC later this summer, it comes as no surprise that gymnast and Olympic gold medalist Nastia Liukin is not only Olympics ready but also beach ready. A four-time all-around U.S. national champion who has previously competed on Brazilian soil, Liukin is fluent in both Olympic and Brazilian beach jargon. From TULA’S Urban Defense Hydrating Mist to a bottle of smartwater, here she shares some of her essentials that are helping her get ready for Rio's beautiful beaches.
TULA Urban Defense hydrating mist, $28
“This rose water and probiotic-infused mist hydrates my skin and is perfect as a liquid moisturizer in the summer. I just spray and go!”
Burt's Bees lip balm, $8 for four
“My lips are often dehydrated due to travel, so I keep one of these in every bag.”
smartwater, $6 for six
"I always stay hydrated, especially in the summer when it’s so hot and humid outside"
The Knockoff by Lucy Sykes and Jo Piazza
"I love a good book, so I’m currently reading this one. My fiancé always tells me, “knowledge is power.” Instead of scrolling through your feeds while at the beach, open a good book, clear your mind from the craziness of social media, and just read."
OPI 'Hotter Than You Pink' nail lacquer, $10
"I love this on my toes. It’s the perfect summer color—a little pop of color is always great on your toes. But on my hands, I normally like to keep it a little more neutral"
Moroccan Oil Sun Oil SPF 15, $32
"It’s obviously extremely important to always wear SPF, but I do still love a little bronzed look, so this one is perfect. It keeps you protected while you can still work on that golden tan."
Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray, $27
"This spray gives you those beachy waves, so you don’t have to mess with drying out your hair or curling it with an iron."
