My Beach Essentials: Joyann King
The Harper's Bazaar editor on her signature brand of beach chic.

As online editor of Harper's Bazaar, Joyann King travels the world in the name of style, to places as disparate as Paris (for fashion week) and Louisville (for the Kentucky Derby). So when she has the luxury of choosing her own destination, it's no wonder that there's often sand (read: relaxation) involved. Whether oceanside at Ditch Plains in Montauk or on the freespirited shores of Tulum, King has her perfect day down pat, beginning with breakfast tacos, a run and a surf lesson, followed by wine, cheese and a sweatshirt at sunset. "I love the feeling of the salt on my skin," she says, "It always makes me look and feel a little sexier." Her expertly assembled beach look doesn't hurt either:
Dezso by Sara Beltran bag
A collection by a stylist-turned-design, Sarah is always making the perfect beach-ready totes.
"A modern update on a classic, flattering shape."
Missoni beach towel
"I am completely loyal to Missoni beach towels, they are super cozy and extra large."
"I'm leaning towards ruffles this summer, but in a color that doesn't scream girly."
"These slim flipflops are chicer than their wider counterparts, but just as comfy. The gold goes with everything."
"To stay connected!"
Caudalie Beauty Elixir
"I spritz this all over my face, chest and hair for an instant refresh and gorgeous glow."
Eugenia Kim hat
"A topper is a must-have to keep wet hair at bay and the sun off my face."
