There's a time and a place for upgrades, and sometimes those of us who work hard and play harder want to take our personal pampering to the next level. Do you need to be massaged with diamonds? Probably not. But there are far worse ways to kill a couple of hours. Thankfully, there’s no shortage of extravagant (and, dare we say, over the top) treatments designed to rejuvenate the body. From ultrasound rub downs to caviar facials, these luxurious spa services combine cutting edge technology and plush settings to render the ultimate in wellness indulgences. In these top tier treatments, the price of beauty is sky high. But, we'd like to think we’re worth it.
White Caviar Illuminating
Facial = $1,000
Where to find it: Hotel Bel-Air Spa By La Prairie, Los Angeles
Why it’s worth it: Caviar — famed for its firming, smoothing, and brightening benefits — will transform your skin during this 90-minute service that also features a cellular peel and intensive caviar eye treatment. Extra special room touches include 1000 thread-count sheets and a personalized music selection. Bonus: a bevy of full-size skincare products for you to bring home.
Dieci Mani = $5,000
Where to find it: QUA Baths & Spa at Caesars Atlantic City Hotel and Casino
Why it’s worth it: Imagine having a team of five wellness pros (that would be 10 hands) attending to your sybaritic pleasure for three hours. That’s what you’ll get during this über indulgent total body experience that includes a mud exfoliation, Swedish and hot stone massage, Roman bath, facial, and, wait for it…a Shirodhara treatment (the pouring of warm oil onto the forehead to promote transcendental relaxation.) Aaaaaah. An amenity basket brimming with spa goodies will help you recreate nirvana on the home front.
Vaser Body Shape
Treatment = $3,100
(for 5 sessions)
Where to find it: Kate Somerville Skin Health Experts, Los Angeles
Why it’s worth it: Working out does a body good, but sometimes we need a little extra help firming up the last trace of jiggle. Target less-than-taut areas with this non-invasive soothing treatment that pairs lymphatic massage with ultrasound waves to flush out toxins and reduce fatty tissue. Devotees of the therapy claim to be able to slip back into their skinny jeans after two treatments. Ms. Somerville recommends five of these 90-minute sessions to reap the full benefits.
Trump Luxury = $1,220
Where to find it: The Spa at Trump, Chicago
Why it’s worth it: No one does decadence like The Donald. So of course this seven-hour experience pulls out all the stops. Start with the gem massage — considered the Rolls Royce of specialty rubdowns. Oils infused with diamonds, emeralds, rubies (all believed to have detoxifying powers) are smoothed all over the body. Other high points: a seaweed treatment, crystal foot therapy and reflexology. There’s also a multi-course spa lunch, but you may be too blissed out to eat.
Evian Bath = $5,000
Where to find it: Spa V Hotel Victor, Miami
Why it’s worth it: Spa V’s super soak takes bath time to a whole new level. By special request for guests staying in the hotel’s penthouse, the spa team will fill the suite’s infinity tub with 1000 liters of Evian water. (Serena Williams famously took the premier plunge surrounded by floating flower petals.) Along with being ridiculously relaxing, this high-end hydrotherapy is said to revitalize the skin and purify the senses.
